HEAD SHAVING EVENT: APRIL 10, 2011
LOCATION: THEE GARAGE IN BAKER
FREE! LIVE MUSIC & REFRESHMENTS!
Every year an average of 12,500 children & adolescents are diagnosed with cancer in the United States. Although the cancer death rate for children has dropped dramatically for children more than any other age group, it still claims the lives of 2,300 children a year. Research is still needed to take that number to ZERO.
The Willfully Bald Incentive Program is a local team of individuals who have committed themselves to raising money for pediatric oncology research...research to fight against childhood cancer. Team members include: Dave Wiseman (team captain), Rita Nemitz, Dey Muckle, Lee Strait and Pastor Bruce Kolasch. The goal of the team is to raise $2,500 in donations. The fellas have all agreed to shave their heads once that goal is met while Rita will cut a large portion of her long mane and donate it to the Locks of Love program.
Team Captain, Dave Wiseman has a personal connection to the cause. His daughter Danae is a cancer survivor. He is doing it in honor of his daughter as well as other families he has known who've been affected by the disease, The team also wishes to participate in loving memory of Morgan Wyrick. Dave and Pastor Bruce spoke with Christy Lynn recently about their efforts & the affect cancer has had on their lives. You can listen in to 960AM KFLN & 100.5FM THE ROCK for the interview, or Click the PLAY BUTTON below to hear the interview.
All money raised by the Willfully Bald Incentive Program will go to the St. Baldrick's Foundation which uses the money to fund pediatric oncology research across the country. Last year alone, St. Baldrick's raised over 21.5 million dollars.
You can help this year's amount be even more! To donate, click on the picture of one of the team members and follow the "DONATE" instructions on the St. Baldrick's page. You can also contact each member individually and give them a check. Or, you can drop donations off at American Lutheran Church, 315 Kewanee Avenue in Baker.
